Sachi is a contemporary dining destination in Melbourne CBD, inspired by the quiet intensity of sunset and the ritual of evening gathering. The concept draws from coastal narratives and Japanese-influenced cuisine, blending fire, sea, and atmosphere into a refined yet immersive experience. Designed as an after-dark sanctuary, Sachi balances precision with emotion where sculptural interiors, a central statement bar, and layered lighting create a mood that feels both intimate and transportive. The brand reflects a sensory journey, inviting guests to step away from the city’s tempo and into a space where flavour, texture, and ambience unfold with intention.

Approach

Sachi is anchored in the idea of passage from day to night, from land to sea, from routine to ritual. The space is designed to feel like a vessel at dusk, with the bar acting as both focal point and stage. Warm amber tones, reflective finishes, and tactile materials echo the glow of fading light on water. The menu mirrors this journey: seafood-led dishes, charcoal grill elements, citrus brightness, and delicate textures presented with restraint. The experience is immersive yet composed, allowing guests to move through the evening as if drifting with the tide.

Outcome

The resulting identity feels cinematic and quietly powerful. Refined typography and fluid graphic gestures reference movement, horizon lines, and water. The intentional palette of deep charcoals, burnished metals, and sunset ambers reinforces warmth and depth within the urban setting. Interiors and branding have been crafted to work in harmony, creating an atmosphere without excess. Sachi emerges as a sophisticated urban retreat, where fire meets sea, light meets shadow, and every evening becomes a carefully curated journey after sunset. A continuous lighting element traces the perimeter of Sachi, forming a deliberate horizon line that anchors the room.

Inspired by the final sliver of sun as it slips beneath the sea, this glowing band wraps the walls with quiet precision, guiding the eye in one seamless motion around the space. It is subtle yet commanding, neither decorative nor overpowering, but architectural in its intent. The light shifts gently in tone, echoing the warmth of sunset and casting a soft amber wash across textured surfaces. This linear gesture elongates the room, enhances depth, and reinforces the concept of passage from day to night.
